Ensemble BonaNox - "'s ist Krieg". A Musical-Literary Programme

Ensemble BonaNox places songs, texts and piano pieces into unusual, associatively dense contexts. Unexpected connections emerge between seemingly unrelated works - bridges are built, ruptures are embraced. The ensemble's richly varied programmes span many centuries and give voice to works from across the ages.

The programme "'s ist Krieg" guides audiences through the sprawling, complex landscape of artistic reflections on war - from the Persian Wars and the Thirty Years' War to the present day. Songs and piano pieces from the 18th to 20th centuries, texts from two millennia, and performative elements illuminate the stages of warfare: psychological and military preparation, the fervour of mobilisation, battle itself, and the mostly bitter aftermath.
