Ensemble BonaNox - "'s ist Krieg". A Musical-Literary Programme

Ensemble BonaNox places songs, texts and piano pieces into unusual, associatively dense constellations - drawing out unexpected connections between seemingly unrelated works, building bridges and marking fault lines. The programmes give voice to works spanning many centuries.

"'s ist Krieg" ("It's War") guides the audience through a structure of artistic reflections on war, using songs and piano pieces from the 18th to 20th centuries, texts from two millennia, and performative elements. The journey runs from the Persian Wars through the Thirty Years' War to the present day. The programme traces the stages of waging war: psychological preparation and war fever, mobilisation, battle, and the mostly bitter end.
