Cinema night at ROMANFABRIK - back again!
This documentary explores the nomadic potential within human nature. The drive to explore, curiosity, but also flight and spiritual searching have all shaped this nomadic core. The film follows the artists of Mangan25 on expeditions across six continents. In extreme landscapes - the jungles of Papua New Guinea and Venezuela, the permanent ice of the Arctic and the Himalayas, and deserts across the globe - they encounter extraordinary tribes and stories.
One chapter is devoted to the dramatic expedition on Nanga Parbat, during which Günther Jung from Thuringia lost his life. It was crafted using footage by the renowned mountain filmmaker Gerhard Baur.
Kai-Uwe Kohlschmidt, born in Leipzig in 1968, is a writer, composer and director working in radio drama, documentary, theatre and film. He is the vocalist of the band SANDOW and a member of the artist collective Mangan25. He lives and works in the Spreewald.
