Poetry Slam Prenzlau
Dominikanerkloster Prenzlau, Germany
Poetry Slam - a format that grew out of dusty Berlin hipster bars in pre-pandemic times - has long since made its way onto Brandenburg's cultural stages. Less craft beer, more honest verse and genuinely funny comedy: word artists from across Germany take on local up-and-coming talent.
Since 2019, the Kiezpoeten have been running Poetry Slam Prenzlau in collaboration with the city library - outdoors in summer. The stage is open to anyone, and more than once a seasoned Berlin championship contender has been beaten by a first-time performer. The rules: 6 minutes, original texts, no costumes or props - beyond that, anything goes in terms of content and style.
Anyone who wants to perform can sign up via the open-list contact form at kiezpoeten.com.
