How Reading Aloud Strengthens Children - and Brings Joy to Adults

Reading aloud is shared time, an adventure in the mind - and one of the most effective ways to support a child's development. Even after a long day of work, kindergarten, or school, there are ways to awaken children's desire to listen.

Annette Boll, a reading and literature educator in Bad Saulgau and director of a reading festival in Switzerland ("Thalwil liest vor"), addresses everyone who reads to children, would like to do so, or wants to learn more about how it supports and strengthens child development. The session begins with a lecture on the connection between reading aloud and child development; she then presents picture books, children's books, and reference books on the topic - with practical tips on how to awaken and implement the joy of reading in everyday life.
