Wooli is an avant-garde folk duo formed by Taiwanese pipa player Fan-Qi Wu and Norwegian drummer Michael Lee Sørenmo. Since their debut in Oslo in April 2024, the duo has performed at European festivals including the Vestafor Festival, Aarhus Jazz Festival, Babel Sound Festival and (s)Nodi Festival.

Their debut album "Wooli" was released on 13 March 2026, blending influences from East Asian tradition with the experimental freedom of free jazz. The project sees itself as a living tribute to cultural heritage - not as a fixed form, but as a constantly evolving force. Their music grows out of improvisation, spontaneous dialogue and a shared fascination with sound: rooted in tradition, yet radically new.
