ACHTER 84 - Bauer & Kalima

The duo of Conny Bauer (Germany, trombone) and Kalle Kalima (Finland, guitar) bridges the tradition of avant-garde jazz with contemporary art music. Bauer, a defining figure of East German jazz, meets Kalima's broad musical range, which draws on jazz, rock and new music. Their playing shows a rare sensitivity to dynamics and dramaturgy, building sound worlds in real time - a prime example of instant composing.

Their joint album "13 Kuukautta" (13 Months) symbolises a break from everyday time structures and the creation of their own space-time continuum.
