The world's oldest profession has always carried a whiff of the illicit, the forbidden - and the tempting. One of the Betty BBQ tour guides takes you on a journey back to Freiburg's red-light scene of the 70s, 80s and 90s, with stories of hard men and easy women.

Don't miss the vivid tales from a time when certain streets in Freiburg were bathed in a dim, reddish glow. In the "Schnecken" quarter, just a short walk from the Schwabentor, the "trade" had been at home since the Middle Ages. Here, police officers would share a morning coffee with the prostitutes at the legendary Cafe Ruef. Here, ordinary citizens lived side by side with pimps, sex workers and brawlers, and bought their sausages at the "Würschtle-Puff". At the Arena-Bar, Freiburg's high society rubbed shoulders at the counter with scantily clad women after dark - while at the other end of the city centre, Gina Wildkatze, the boss of the Playboy Bar, stepped out of her limousine in a long white fur coat. She once had genuine white mink bikinis made for her 15 bar girls.
