The world's oldest profession has always carried a whiff of the illicit and forbidden. One of the Betty BBQ tour guides takes you on a journey back to Freiburg's red-light scene of the 70s, 80s and 90s - with stories of hard men and easy women.

In the "Schnecken" suburb near the Schwabentor, the "trade" had been at home since the Middle Ages. Policemen would share a morning coffee with the prostitutes at the legendary Cafe Ruef, locals bought their sausages at the "Würschtle-Puff", and Freiburg's high society stood at the bar of the Arena-Bar at night, rubbing shoulders with scantily clad ladies. At the other end of the city centre, Gina Wildkatze - boss of the Playboy Bar - stepped out of her limousine in a long white fur coat; she once had real white mink bikinis made for her 15 bar girls.
