Three Men in the Snow - Erich Kästner

Erich Kästner, known to us all through his children's books, provides the foundation for this year's production by Laienbühne Freising e.V.: His charming and thoughtful novel "Three Men in the Snow" transports us to the seemingly idyllic world of a winter sports hotel with its international clientele.

Charles Lewinsky has adapted this delightful comedy of errors for the stage (© Performance rights: Bühnenverlag Weitendorf, Hamburg). A millionaire, called a "perpetual child" by his daughter, disguises himself as an ordinary man to observe real people - the beginning of many misunderstandings. At the Grand Hotel Bruckbeuren, however, he meets a young man from humble circumstances and discovers - despite their class differences - true friendship.

In his second production at the Freisinger Laienbühne, director Arnold Aschbauer takes us into the elegant world of ski tourism in 1930 with all its trappings: diligent and less diligent staff, respectable and less respectable guests from around the world, and our three protagonists, who have their hearts in the right place and whose friendship transcends all class boundaries.
