Blues & Boogie Woogie "Merito und Rogerio Antonio - Boogie Woogie Twins"
Fischhalle Harburg, Hamburg, Germany
20 €
Merito und Rogerio Antonio - the Boogie Woogie Twins - are a Hamburg piano duo devoted entirely to boogie woogie. Both started learning piano in seventh grade; Rogerio discovered the style in 2021 through a video of two musicians playing a street piano in London. His twin brother Merito caught the bug immediately, and since then the two have lived and breathed boogie woogie.
Their musical touchstones are the genre's pioneers - Albert Ammons, Meade Lux Lewis and Pete Johnson - alongside Hamburg's own boogie-woogie pianist Axel Zwingenberger. The programme features classic boogie woogie and blues pieces as well as original compositions.
Their career has picked up serious momentum: in August 2024 Axel Zwingenberger invited them for the first time to his "Boogie Woogie Connection" at the FABRIK in Hamburg. In 2025 they appeared in Zwingenberger's "Boogie Woogie News" at the Metropol in Vienna and were invited back to "Boogie Woogie Connection" once more. Then came 2026: four sold-out New Year's concerts at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, sharing the stage with pianist Joja Wendt.
