About: Gregor Gysi

Gregor Gysi is a German politician and lawyer, a long-standing member and prominent face of the Die Linke (The Left) party. He is known as a skilled orator in the Bundestag and as a defence lawyer in political trials in the GDR. After German reunification he became one of the most recognisable figures of left-wing politics in Germany.

About the venue: Kabarett-Theater Distel Berlin

The Distel is one of Berlin's most storied political cabaret theatres, founded in 1953 in East Berlin. Located on Friedrichstraße, it has a long tradition of sharp satirical programmes commenting on political and social affairs. After reunification it continued as an independent venue and remains one of Germany's leading cabaret stages.
