Theatertreffen 2026 is a prestigious theatre festival held as part of the Berliner Festspiele. The event takes place at the Volksbühne in Berlin, bringing together the most notable theatre productions of the season.

About the venue: Volksbühne

The Volksbühne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz is a landmark theatre in the heart of Berlin, originally built in 1914 and reconstructed after World War II. Known for its bold, politically engaged productions, it became internationally renowned under director Frank Castorf (1992–2017). The venue hosts theatre, performance art, and interdisciplinary events, and its iconic façade with the motto "Die Kunst dem Volke" ("Art for the People") remains a symbol of Berlin's cultural identity.
