Burg Trausnitz is a medieval hilltop castle overlooking Landshut, founded in 1204 by Duke Ludwig I of Bavaria. For over three centuries it served as the residence of the Wittelsbach dukes of Lower Bavaria. Today it houses a museum with ducal apartments, Gothic halls, and the famous Narrentreppe - a staircase decorated with commedia dell'arte figures from the late 16th century.
