About the venue
Dom St. Marien is Erfurt's Catholic cathedral, a Gothic landmark towering above the Domplatz on a natural hill. Its origins go back to the 8th century, though the current structure dates mainly from the 14th and 15th centuries. The cathedral houses the famous Gloriosa bell, cast in 1497 and one of the largest medieval free-swinging bells in the world. Classical concerts and organ recitals are regularly held here alongside religious services.
