About the venue

Festspielhaus Hellerau is a landmark of early 20th-century modernism, built in 1911-1912 as the centrepiece of Germany's first garden city. Designed by Heinrich Tessenow, it was originally home to Émile Jaques-Dalcroze's school of rhythmic movement. Today it serves as Dresden's European Centre for the Arts, hosting contemporary dance, theatre, music and international festivals.
