About the venue

The Gärtnerplatz is a circular square in Munich's Glockenbachviertel, laid out in the mid-19th century and named after the surrounding gardeners' quarter. At its centre stands the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, a neo-classical opera and operetta house from 1865. The square itself is a popular meeting point, especially in warmer months when locals gather on the grass around the central fountain.
