The Hamburger Kammerspiele is one of Hamburg's oldest and most respected private theatres, founded in 1919. Its intimate stage has hosted generations of leading German-speaking actors and directors, with a programme ranging from classic drama to contemporary plays. The building in the Altstadt district retains much of its original character.
