About the venue

The Hexentanzplatz is a rocky plateau high above the Bode gorge near Thale, in the eastern Harz mountains. According to Germanic legend, witches gathered here on Walpurgis Night - a tradition still celebrated every year on 30 April with large open-air festivities. The site also hosts an open-air theatre, a wildlife park, and sweeping views over the valley below.
