About the venue

Kloster Helfta is a medieval Cistercian monastery near Lutherstadt Eisleben, originally founded in 1229. It became one of the most important centres of female mysticism in 13th-century Germany, home to mystics Mechthild von Hackeborn, Mechthild von Magdeburg and Gertrud die Große. After centuries of abandonment, the monastery was restored and re-consecrated in the late 20th century; today it hosts religious events, concerts and cultural gatherings.
