About the venue

The Paulskirche is a neoclassical rotunda in Frankfurt's old town, built in the late 18th century as a Lutheran church. It became the seat of the first freely elected German parliament in 1848-49, making it a central symbol of German democracy. Today it serves as a civic hall and memorial, hosting official ceremonies, political events, and the annual award of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade.
