Film synopsis:
England in the 11th century - Rob Cole has an extraordinary gift: as a young boy, he senses that his ill mother will die and must helplessly watch his premonition come true. Left alone, the young orphan joins a traveling barber-surgeon, who teaches him not only sleight-of-hand tricks but also the basics of medieval medicine. Even as an apprentice, Rob recognizes the limits of these simple practices. One day he learns of the famous universal scholar Ibn Sina, who teaches medicine in distant Persia, and he decides to train as a physician there. On his journey, Rob Cole faces countless dangers and challenges, must make sacrifices and fight his way forward relentlessly. In the end, his unwavering pursuit of knowledge is rewarded with insights about the world and about himself, with friendship and true love...
