Coppélia is a classical comic ballet in two acts, with music by Léo Delibes and a libretto by Charles Nuitter. It premiered in Paris in 1870. Inspired by tales by E. T. A. Hoffmann, it tells the story of a young man who falls for a mysterious girl who turns out to be a mechanical doll created by the eccentric inventor Coppélius.
