HALKA

About

Halka is a Polish opera by Stanisław Moniuszko, first performed in 1848. It tells the story of a peasant girl betrayed by the nobleman Janusz and is regarded as a cornerstone of Polish national opera. The 1929 silent film directed by K. Maglicki is one of the earliest cinematic adaptations of the work.
