Jack Black (born August 28, 1969) is an American actor, comedian, singer and musician best known for School of Rock (2003), the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and his comedy-rock duo Tenacious D, which he co-founded with Kyle Gass in 1994. His accolades include a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance, an Emmy Award, and three Golden Globe nominations; in 2018 he received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On screen he has moved fluidly between live-action comedy and blockbuster voice work, most recently starring as Steve in A Minecraft Movie (2025), which grossed over $900 million worldwide.
