Morrissey is a British singer and lyricist, best known as the frontman of the Manchester post-punk band The Smiths (1982–1987). After the band's break-up he pursued a solo career, releasing albums such as Viva Hate (1988). His work is marked by melancholic, literary lyrics and a distinctive vocal style.
