Pauline Oliveros (1932–2016) was an American composer, performer, and pioneer of electronic music. She developed the concept of "Deep Listening" — a meditative approach to perceiving environmental sounds. She co-founded the San Francisco Tape Music Center and had a lasting influence on experimental and avant-garde music of the 20th century.
