On 1 October 2026, the Lizard King club in Toruń will host a jubilee concert by the band Manchester celebrating 20 years of activity.
Manchester was formed in 2006 in Toruń. A year later, the band performed at festivals in Węgorzewo and Jarocin, and their song "Do Gwiazd" was included on the compilation "Minimax.pl" curated by Piotr Kaczkowski. In 2007, the group reached the final of "MTV Rockuje" and performed live in the Agnieszka Osiecka studio, playing songs by Republika. The breakthrough came in 2008: the single "Dziewczyna Gangstera" won two main awards at the TOPtrendy festival in Sopot - the audience award and the internet users' award. The Phonographic Academy nominated Manchester for a "Fryderyk", and listeners of Radio WAWA gave the band the "Golden Beak" in the Debut of the Year category. The debut album "Manchester" also featured "Berlin lubi deszcz" and "Nie na pierwszej randce".
In 2011, the band signed with EMI Music Poland and released their second album "Chemiczna Broń" with singles "Lubię twoje włosy", "Lawendowy" and "Tajemnica". Manchester performed multiple times at the Polish Song Festival in Opole, was nominated twice for "Superjedynka", participated in programmes such as "Hity na czasie" on Radio Eska and "Lato Zet i Dwójki", and in 2013 performed before Rod Stewart at the stadium in Rybnik. The third album - "Niezatapialny" - was released in 2017 and was promoted with singles "Za Mało", "Zapominanie" and "Całkiem nowy ja". Two years later, vocalist Maciej Tacher left the band to focus on his solo career. After nearly six years, Manchester returns in its original line-up.
