ANNE OF GREEN GABLES
Ludwik Solski Theatre in Tarnów, Poland
Anne is stubborn, proud, and doesn't always manage her anger well. She has no parents, toys, or books - her only possessions are a dress that's too short, two narrow nightgowns, a straw hat, and an extraordinarily vivid imagination. It is this imagination that helps her survive difficult moments, though it often gets her into trouble: Anne loves inventing romantic and tragic stories, giving names to trees, flowers, and lakes, while her chores can wait. She dreams of being called Cordelia, of her red hair changing colour, of owning a dress with puffy sleeves, finding a Bosom Friend, and - above all - having a home and belonging to someone.
One day Miss Spencer takes the girl from the orphanage to her new guardians. It turns out that Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert wanted to adopt an orphan - but a boy to help them with the farm. Will Anne Shirley manage to fulfil even one of her dreams? The answer comes in this production.
