Tango - Teatr im. Wandy Siemaszkowej
Teatr im. Juliusza Osterwy w Lublinie, Poland
Grotesque absurdity, brilliant humor, and questions that trouble every generation.
Artur returns home from lectures to find chaos: shattered norms, anarchy without rules, freedom without limits. His idealistic attempt to restore order leads to confrontation with his family - until he becomes a symbolic victim of the collapse of values. Sławomir Mrożek's outstanding play poses questions about the clash between liberal freedom and the need for meaning and identity in a world without tradition. These questions resonate as powerfully today as they did sixty years ago.
In Marcin Sławiński's Rzeszów interpretation, these tensions become a mirror for contemporary social dilemmas. The director approaches Mrożek's text with respect for the original while seeking a modern theatrical form. "Tango" is one of the most important Polish dramas of the twentieth century, translated into dozens of languages and performed on stages around the world.
