TRIBUTE TO LEONARD COHEN | Yanistan - Concert

Yanistan is a trio composed of Janusz Kasprowicz, Stanisław Marinczenko, and Bogdan Bińczak, performing songs by Leonard Cohen.

Janusz Kasprowicz - leader of the band Projekt Volodia - has performed hundreds of concerts, released eight albums, and collaborated with actors such as Mirosław Baka and Stanisław Górka. He is a cultural animator and director of several festivals: the Włodzimierz Wysocki "Wołodia pod Szczelińcem" festival, the Wrocław "Pieśniarze Niepokorni" festival, "Lwowskie dni we Wrocławiu", and artistic director of the recurring "Night of Bards" at the Festival of Three Cultures in Włodawa. He has been honored by the Miera Kauss Association with the international medal "Chalice of Peace". Stanisław Marinczenko is a multi-instrumentalist playing guitars, piano, accordion, mandolin, and harp, active in literary song, Irish music, and electrogothic. Bogdan Bińczak comes from traditional jazz circles - he supports the ensemble on percussion instruments, melody, and vocal parts.

The concert departs from the typical style of a bard performance. A review of one of their previous concerts describes it this way: "Janusz Kasprowicz's characteristic raspy voice and Stanisław Marinczenko's soft vocals blended perfectly with the delivery of Leonard Cohen's poetry - sometimes harsh, often tender. Phenomenal, versatile musicians, multi-instrumentalists, singing beautifully and creating a wonderful friendly atmosphere, were met with warm energy from the audience. The interaction was natural, requiring no special encouragement. The music simply carried us."
