Miep Gies fell and died. "Every day I feel sorry" - she said before her death, thinking of Anne Frank and the other people she had hidden during World War II. She preserved Anne Frank's diary and after the war handed it over for publication. For her proven acts of courage, the Queen of the Netherlands knighted her in 1996.
The play follows Miep Gies at the moment of her fall - after a century of life, on the floor of a Dutch nursing home. In the time between losing her balance and her head hitting the ground, we return with her to those years when people hunt people, and ordinary life and ordinary gestures become something entirely, entirely different.
