NOTES OF A RED ARMY OFFICER
Małopolskie Centrum Kultury „SOKÓŁ” w Nowym Sączu, Nowy Sącz, Poland
A solo performance by Piotr Cyrwus based on the prose of Sergiusz Piasecki, which premiered at the STU Theatre in Kraków. The actor received recognition for this role at the Festival of One-Actor Theatre in Toruń.
Senior Lieutenant Mikhail Zubow enters bourgeois Poland on September 14, 1939. For a man raised in a totalitarian system, it is a land of contradictions and wonders - the lieutenant interprets reality in his own way, and the world he perceives appears grotesque and comic. Military events quickly test our hero: a fool caught in the wheels of history becomes an instrument of crime in a war not his own.
The performance is a satire on Soviet propaganda, the military, and the NKVD - a grotesque and at times bitter look at the fate of people in difficult times, with a message that remains (unfortunately) relevant.
