The Pardes Festival opens with "Shalom" - a recital of traditional Jewish songs performed by André Ochodlo. The programme features Yiddish songs in contemporary arrangements and new compositions, including works written especially for the artist, as well as selected pieces from "Yiddishland" - Ochodlo's own collection.

The concert reflects over 30 years of artistic work by André Ochodlo - one of the most acclaimed contemporary interpreters of Yiddish songs, who has performed at the Atelier Theatre in Sopot and on stages throughout Poland and the world. The songs form a narrative about the culture of the Yiddish language and Eastern European Jews - a culture that thrived until September 1939. Among them are works by distinguished Jewish poets: Itzhak Manger and Mordechai Gebirtig - preserved fragments of a destroyed world. The narrative connecting the recital was developed by Agnieszka Osiecka, who also translated Gebirtig's poems.
