Metaphysics of the Two-Headed Calf XV ZPA "Navel of the World" — Teatr im. Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza, Zakopane
Description was written before the event

A performance based on Witkacy's 1921 drama - written seven years after his journey to New Guinea, Australia and Ceylon with ethnographer Bronisław Malinowski. The main character, Karmazyniello, is a young man trying to understand the truth about his origins and complicated family relationships, who must define himself in a world full of mental and social constraints. The performance explores coming of age and the formation of identity, cultural, family and social belonging - and the tension between a young individual's self-creation and cultural coercion and social discipline, including pressure from those closest to him.

The performance incorporates fragments from works by THIS WILL DESTROY YOU: "A Three-Legged Workhorse", "Villa Del Refugio", "Threads", "Leather Wings", "The Mighty Rio Grande", "They Move on Tracks of Never-Ending Light", as well as "Passacali della vita", "Tragicomedia" and "Sandstorm" by Zakir Hussain.

The premiere took place on 24 February 2015 at the Witkacy Stage. The performance won the Audience Award at the 60th Rzeszów Theatre Meetings: Festival of Masterpieces, and director Andrzej St. Dziuk received an award for "a clear and revealing interpretation of Witkacy's forgotten, rarely performed play". Produced with funds from the Minister of Culture and National Heritage.

The performance is intended for viewers aged 16 and above. Smoke effects are used during the performance and cigarette smoke appears.
