Panopticum — Teatr im. Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza, Zakopane

Panopticum is a musical performance based on texts by Julian Tuwim - a poet whose work encompasses lyrical verses full of wonder for life, social satires, and sketches. The music was composed by Jerzy Chruściński and is performed by the Max Klezmer Band ensemble.

The scenic world of Panopticum is inhabited by peculiar characters from courtyards, small squares, and pre-war cafés: a lovesick writer, a pale aristocrat, a femme fatale, a sly operator, a coquette, a flirt, and an abandoned simple girl. They are accompanied by a group of wandering musicians.

The programme features well-known texts - Melody, Memory, Litany, Zośka the Mad - alongside youthful works, recently discovered poems, children's verses, and sketches from the Qui Pro Quo cabaret, including the titular Panopticum, I Have No Time, Against Slanderers, To the Common Man, and Mercy.

The entire work was composed and directed by Andrzej St. Dziuk. The premiere took place on November 5, 2004 at the Atanazy Bazakbala Stage.
