RZEŹNIA after Sławomir Mrożek
Teatr im. Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza, Zakopane, Poland
A theatrical production based on Sławomir Mrożek's radio play that explores the conflict between culture and nature, and the place of art in a contemporary world filled with brutality, falsehood, and violence. The protagonist is a violinist trapped between his domineering mother's control and his struggle to become a fully independent artist. He exists in a state of tension between raw emotion and the refined feelings that come from artistic experience.
Director Andrzej Dziuk - founder of the Zakopane Theatre - returns with this production to the theme of an artist confronted with the modern vision of the world. Piotr Łakomik received an award for his role as Paganini/The Butcher at the 61st Rzeszów Theatre Meetings: 02. Festival of Masterpieces.
The production uses smoke effects and includes cigarette smoke.
