CLASSICS 3.0 - Tango by Sławomir Mrożek - Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre from Rzeszów — Teatr im. Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza, Zakopane

Grotesque, absurdity, brilliant wit, and questions that haunt every generation - these are the hallmarks of Sławomir Mrożek's "Tango", one of the most important Polish plays of the twentieth century, translated into dozens of languages and performed on stages worldwide.

Artur returns home from lectures to find chaos: shattered norms, anarchy without rules, freedom without limits. His idealistic attempt to restore order leads to confrontation with his family - and makes him a symbolic victim of the collapse of values. The conflict between liberal freedom and the need for meaning and identity resonates today as powerfully as it did sixty years ago.

In director Marcin Sławiński's Rzeszów interpretation, these tensions become a mirror for contemporary social dilemmas. The director approaches Mrożek's text with respect for the original while seeking a modern theatrical form - full of associations, symbols, and paradoxical logic.

This production by the Wanda Siemaszkowa Theatre in Rzeszów is presented as a guest performance as part of the Classics 3.0 series.
