Scene of Actors' Proposals - A TREATISE ON BEAN SHELLING

An actors' proposal by Emilia Nagórka from the Witkacy Theatre, presented as part of the Scene of Actors' Proposals.

"First light is completely different from when it shines here and there. And there is living light and dead light. Light that merely shines, and light that remembers. That repels and invites. That looks and does not recognize. That, even if it shines most brightly, is blind. And light that barely glimmers yet sees to the end of life. There are no boundaries, time, or space for them. They can summon the oldest memory, even if squandered or when a person has been disinherited from it. Memory is like a light from a long-dead star flying toward us. Except it doesn't always manage to reach us during our lifetime. It depends on the distance it travels from and the distance we are from it. Because these are not equal distances. And perhaps everything is memory after all?"
