The Lame Duck and the Blind Hen

A theatrical performance based on Ulrich Hub's book, translated by Eliza Pieciul-Karmińska.

On a grey, forgotten courtyard lives a lame Duck - unwanted by anyone, attached to no one. Everything changes when a blind Hen appears: cheerful, somewhat bossy, and completely unbothered by her own blindness. The Hen proposes a joint expedition to a place where even the most secret dreams come true. The Duck has no desire to leave home, yet together they overcome paths through a dense forest, bridges over chasms, and frozen wastelands.

This odd duo - the cautious and self-doubting Duck, the Hen swept up in extreme emotions - heads toward a finale with a theatrical twist that cannot be revealed. Children will see that no journey leaves you unchanged and that friendship can find us where we would never seek it.

In his repeatedly award-winning children's books, Ulrich Hub poses important questions about relationships between people, framing them in simple yet profound stories. This performance, inspired by his book, works on many levels at once - it is safe and comprehensible for children, yet offers adults far more layers to contemplate.
