Exhibition open 5.09 - 6.12.2026, Tuesday to Sunday 12-19.

"The World as a Herbarium. Nature in Art from the 17th to the 21st Century" is an exhibition spanning over four centuries of artistic creation, in which nature is the central theme - both as an object of wonder and as a witness to climate change. The castle galleries bring together works by historical and contemporary artists: European painting and Japanese art, classical herbals, botanical illustrations, prints, sculptures, installations, and works created specifically for this exhibition.

Among the featured artists are Maria Sibylla Merian, Elizabeth Blackwell, Wojciech Weiss, Jan Stanisławski, Julian Fałat, Stanisław Wyspiański, and Watanabe Seitei - representing the Japanese kachō-ga tradition. Alongside them, contemporary artists addressing the theme of the Anthropocene present their work.
