Baltic Sea Philharmonic

Baltic Sea Philharmonic performs from memory - without music stands, without scores. All musicians throughout the entire concert. This is not a marketing gimmick: abandoning sheet music changes the way the orchestra plays and how the audience listens. Musicians look at each other and at the conductor, not at paper. The conductor's baton is replaced by breath, movement arises from listening, and contact within the ensemble becomes direct.

Concerts often flow in one arc - without breaks to turn pages, without the rituals that concert halls have accustomed us to. The orchestra sounds like a chamber ensemble enlarged to symphonic proportions: flexibly, attentively, with attention to the smallest gesture.

Baltic Sea Philharmonic was founded in 2008 on the initiative of Usedomer Musikfestival. Kristjan Järvi became its founder and artistic director. The orchestra brings together musicians from countries throughout the Baltic Sea region: Poland, Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. For nearly two decades, the ensemble has performed from Berlin and Paris to London and Hong Kong, collaborating with Kurt Masur, Neeme Järvi, Jonas Kaufmann, Gidon Kremer, Julia Fischer, Fazil Say, Daniel Hope, and Max Richter, among others. In 2022, it performed "Side by Side" with the New York Philharmonic, and in 2024 appeared at the Glastonbury Festival - at Coldplay's invitation - before an audience of over 200,000 people. In 2013, the orchestra established the Baltic Sea Music Education Foundation, which supports mentoring, school concerts, and generational exchange in the region.

On September 17, 2026, Baltic Sea Philharmonic will perform at the Koszalin Philharmonic Hall.

Robert Trevino - conductor

An American conductor, first guest conductor of Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI, head of the Basque National Orchestra from 2017-2025, and from the 2026/27 season first conductor of the George Enescu Philharmonic in Bucharest. He has collaborated with the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic, Gewandhausorchester Leipzig, Münchner Philharmoniker, Orchestre de Paris, among others.
