Demonism of Zakopane (variétés) — Teatr im. Stanisława Ignacego Witkiewicza, Zakopane

The performance is based on an article by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz from 8 October 1919, dedicated to Tymoteusz Niesiołowski and published in "Echo Tatrzańskie". In it, Witkacy wrote about the peculiar demonism of Zakopane - the "navel of the world" and "worm-like appendage" of the Polish body - and what happens to an artist enamoured with Tatra wilderness.

Drawing from this critical text, written nearly a century earlier, the creators crafted a performance that playfully alludes to contemporary popular culture trends while warning against a misguided understanding of Zakopane's mythology.

The premiere took place on 1 January 2016 at the Atanazy Bazakbala Stage.

The cast includes: Dorota Ficoń, Marek Wrona, Krzysztof Wnuk.

Scenario, set design, costumes and direction: ANDRZEJ ST. DZIUK. Musical arrangement: Włodzimierz Kiniorski. Choreography: Anita Podkowa. Original music: Jerzy Chruściński. Sound design: Natalia Sosna. Lighting design: Kalamarapaxa.
