Film music composer Falk Schönfelder and cellist Matthias Hübner bring together their contrasting musical backgrounds in a programme of original compositions that moves between expansive soundscapes and transcendental moments - rhythmically gripping, playful and always ready to experiment. Both musicians, classically trained yet confirmed boundary-crossers, push their instruments well beyond convention.
Falk Schönfelder is known for his film scores, including the documentary "Weit", and works as a music producer for theatre and film as well as a sound engineer at festivals such as the Usedomer Musikfestival. As a pianist he performs in settings ranging from rock bands to chamber ensembles.
Matthias Hübner, a multiple winner of international songwriting contests, gives between 60 and 100 concerts a year. His musical language blends folk elements and the energy of rock with a classical-concert compositional ethos. His cello playing is instantly recognisable for the way it mimics the human voice - the instrument sings, sobs, shouts and weeps.
Doors open at 19:00.
