She was beautiful, intelligent, courageous - and far ahead of her time: Daisy von Pless was one of Europe's most remarkable figures at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Born as the daughter of English landed gentry and later Princess of Pless, she moved in the highest circles of European society. Yet behind the glamour lay a woman of extraordinary conviction, deep social commitment, and a vision of a peaceful, united Europe.

In her moving theatre evening "BUTTERFLY & SCHMETTERLING", actress Kristin Giertler traces the footsteps of this fascinating woman. With impressive presence and great sensitivity, she portrays a personality caught between cultures, between social expectations and personal freedom, between privilege and responsibility.
