Opening of the Cultural Year — Konin Cultural Centre, Konin

The new cultural year in Konin will be inaugurated with a ceremony on 19 September at 18:00 at the Konin Cultural Centre. The programme includes a review of the past months, presentation of scholarships and awards from the city president to artists and cultural figures, and information about plans for the coming months. The evening will conclude with a concert of "12 Dreams for piano" by pianist, composer and arranger Aleksander Dębicz, creator of the cinematic classical style that blends classical music, film music and improvisation. Dębicz has seven solo albums to his credit, five nominations for the Fryderyk Award and a long-standing collaboration with countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński (the #LetsBaRock project). Tickets cost 30 zloty and can be purchased at the Konin Cultural Centre.

Two days later, on 21 September (Monday) at 17:00, an exhibition "Kazimierz Białkowski - A Watercolourist's Chronicle" will open in the basement of the Cultural Activity Incubator "Dom Zemełki". It presents sketches and watercolours by the amateur artist capturing the image of old Konin - 49 portraits of the historic part of the city and characteristic buildings of the new part of Konin. Białkowski is also a portrait painter and author of works dedicated to Konin writer Zofia Urbanowska, painted reproductions of the great masters, and his interests include campanology - the study of church and tower bells. He is a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions.
