Cheikh Lô brings forty years of musical experience to the stage. Born in 1955 in Bobo-Dioulasso, the second-largest city in Burkina Faso, where his father was a jeweler, the Senegalese artist took his first orchestral steps with Volta Jazz.
Volta Jazz — one of West Africa's leading ensembles after independence — drew on Cuban songs and the classics of Congolese Tabu Ley Rochereau, while creating their own dance compositions in Creole style.
