The Kitten and the Magic Wardrobe
Teatr im. H. Ch. Andersena w Lublinie, Lublin
A performance for the youngest audiences, growing out of a simple, everyday ritual – a walk. This time, the walk does not lead outside, but into the interior of a wardrobe: a domestic space full of textures, scents, and hidden treasures.
Two girls invite the audience into a room where their grandmother's wardrobe stands, full of secrets. Inside lives the titular Kitten – a puppet who becomes a guide through a world hidden among clothes, sleeves, and pockets. From a glove emerges a Spider, from a clasp – a Snail, from a sock – a Worm. Each shelf is its own microworld and its own encounter.
The performance has a mansion structure – each scene unfolds according to a repeating rhythm: we meet, we play, we say goodbye. Repetition gives children a sense of predictability while allowing them to experience different emotions: curiosity, joy, mild tension, wonder. Each scene engages the body and the senses.
Before the performance, children and their guardians are asked to remove their shoes.
