31. Theatre Confrontations: Interrogation — Cultural Centre in Lublin, Lublin

Cabaret performer Antonina Dziwisz is taken into investigative custody. Through a series of interrogations, she tries to discover the reason for her detention.

"Interrogation" is the first theatrical adaptation of Ryszard Bugajski's acclaimed film from the 1980s. The production engages with themes of Russian repression, the individual's place within a system, and the artist's role in an era when politics dominates social life. Just as Bugajski drew on the historical context of post-war Stalinist repression to speak to his own time, the creators of this production revisit the story anew - giving voice to contemporary victims of Russian violence, Ukrainian women.
