31st Theatre Confrontations: A Single Man
Cultural Centre in Lublin, Poland
Does loneliness have a gender and sexual orientation? What does it really mean to be alone in the 21st century? And does living alone always mean loneliness?
One day in the life of George - a literature professor, a gay man, a friend, a neighbour. The performance is a study of solitude in which audiences enter the intimate space of the protagonist and witness his attempts to cope with everyday life and grief following the death of his beloved partner. Seemingly insignificant moments and encounters of this day take on the weight of events that can reshape how we think about the contemporary world and ourselves.
The performance is based on Christopher Isherwood's novel "A Single Man". Its acclaimed film adaptation directed by Tom Ford earned Colin Firth the Best Actor award at the Venice Film Festival.
