In the Pocket of the Stage - Theatre Tour
Teatr Nowy im. K. Dejmka w Łodzi, Łódź, Poland
What does the stage keep in its pocket and how many rotations does it make per minute? Does the curtain really fall? Which dressing room was the voice from the Rumcajus the Robber fairy tale coming from, and where did the dog guarding the entrance to the Small Stage come from?
The tour will take participants to places normally off-limits to audiences: through a maze of narrow corridors once walked by Kazimierz Dejmek, Mieczysław Voit and Ludwik Benoit, onto the stage and beneath it, all the way to the perspective of spotlights from the very top. The programme also includes visits to the makeup studio and paint shop. What does the auditorium look like through an actor's eyes? Which paths do sound technicians and lighting operators take?
The tour is led by Agnieszka Choińska - a graduate of Polish philology from the University of Łódź, associated with the New Theatre since 2012, initiator of theatrical and outdoor projects, author of the "Youth in Theatre" project, coordinator of the theatre stage and executive producer.
Tour duration: approximately 90 minutes. Meet at the entrance to the Small Hall (ul. Zachodnia 93) a few minutes before the start.
