Student Festival of Slavic Films 06.06.2026

The Student Festival of Slavic Films is a three-day event dedicated to the cinema of Western and Southern Slavic countries, organized by the Horizon of Art Foundation and the Slavic Studies Circle of the University of Warsaw in collaboration with the University of Warsaw. In its inaugural edition, from 587 submissions received through the FilmFreeway platform, the selection committee chose 16 short films by filmmakers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, and Poland.

Following the block, there will be a Q&A session with the filmmakers of the selected films. The festival is competitive in nature — a professional jury will award cash prizes in two categories: Best Film and Best Cinematography.
Patrons of the event include the Czech Centre, Slovak Institute, Bulgarian Institute of Culture, Embassy of the Republic of Croatia, and Waw4free; the media patron is Radio Nowy Świat. The festival is under the honorary patronage of the mayor of the Żoliborz district.
